In this process, clearly, defining the vision, mission and values sets the stage for evaluating and understanding your environment, setting goals, identifying obstacles to their completion, developing strategies to overcome and/or circumvent obstacles, allocating resources, assigning responsibility and developing tools to measure success along a clear path to the future. A plan in your head is hard to share and communicate accurately with others. It is even more difficult to get the entire business team to whole-hearedly and enthusiastically support this plan. This process leads the business owner or management team through the creation of a living document manage and guide their progress and provide a frame work on which to base future decisions.
