Essential Leadership Skills familiarizes the participants with the leadership skills necessary for success in our competitive manufacturing environment. Many people find themselves in supervisory or other leadership positions because of their strong technical abilities. They are not always equipped with the leadership tools to help them succeed. The focus of the training will be on leadership qualities that can be learned in order to improve their team’s productivity (rather than on technical abilities or inherent leadership qualities). These are skills that all personalities and temperaments can learn! Based on current research, industry recognized publications and the teachings of top MBA programs, the DEMEP has focused the training on the following learnable skill set: Build, Motivate and Coach the Team, Empower the Team, Manage Changes Effectively, Communicate (2 Way Street!) Information, Resolve Conflicts Objectively, Make Decisions and Solve Problems, Focus the Team on the Customer’s Needs. As each quality is analyzed, you will learn and understand why they are difficult to practice. The course is designed to help individual attendees and organizations understand where additional growth is needed to improve their business effectiveness by achieving world class team performance.

Leader: Person with the ability to crate commitment in others so that they work together toward a common purpose with confidence.

A customized program can be implemented at your facility that focuses on applying new skills and results. Using Essential Leadership Skills as the starting point, you can choose from the above topics for your organization. The training will focus on changes that individuals will make in order to improve their contribution to the organization. The program will be organized to integrate with your current quality management system, lean enterprise objectives and business improvement initiatives.
